New Bobcasts out, birthday fundraiser
Music in quarantine, Brady's departure and coronavirus discussion with a doctor.
Dome Theory is back, otherwise known as The Bobcast, we are ramping up our interview series and music discussions each Monday. Soon, we’ll be rolling out a documentary series covering significant topics in basketball worth remembering. Stay tuned for that and please subscribe and rate here, it helps the show immensely. It’s available on iTunes, Spotify, Castbox, Stitcher and many more platforms.
Dome Theory brings together the worlds of Syracuse, basketball, sports and culture. I began it 2016 as The Bobcast and features writers, athletes, artists and others who went from aspiring to do something to accomplishing it. Plus, friends of the show.
Quick note this week: I finally dropped my short documentary on Siyaka Taylor-Lewis. My college Prof. Seth Gitner inspired this project and I expanded on it this past month. Siyaka returned to college in his late 20s after surviving a house fire in New York in his early 20s. He’s a photographer, rapper, producer and artist finishing up his degree at Syracuse.
We both arrived on campus in 2016, forming The Village for media projects like these that told story through visual formats on social media. The group only lasted one year, but it helped all of us as first-year students get comfortable and join a social circle. Siyaka is one of the most expressive, inspiring people I’ve ever met and made this project so easy by articulating his musical process to my friend Anthony Obas. I’ll have more on his as he patiently rolls out music

Doc Rivers regrets that Ray Allen did not return for the Paul Pierce retirement ceremony last season. Tensions have remained since Allen, Pierce and Kevin Garnett retired, especially between Rajon Rondo and Allen, after Allen left the Celtics for the rival Miami Heat following the 2012 season. Boston was in the midst of championship contention and Allen’s departure both hurt the Celtics and strengthened the Miami Heat on their way to a 2013 championship. Allen played a critical role in the C’s 2008 title and hasn’t been celebrated in Boston since, even as his teammates have returned to be honored. Rivers hopes that Garnett’s jersey retirement, planned for next season, will be Allen’s chance to return to forgiveness and celebration.
Marcus Smart’s will donate his blood plasma to coronavirus research. The Celtics guard finished his sixth year with the team testing positive for the virus, and was cleared of it last week. His blood will likely go to New York, where antibody treatments are beginning.
